Attendance

520-6830 Extension 1

To report an absence or check your child out early,

call 805-520-6830 and dial extension 1

To be successful at Sinaloa students must have regular attendance and be on time to every class. Students who are tardy will be counseled and their parents notified. Excessive tardies (more than 3 in any quarter) will affect the “Citizenship” grade for the class and after-school detention will be assigned.

Go to the attendance office for the following:

· To bring a note from parent to verify an absence.

· Permission to leave campus (only if signed out by a parent/guardian)

· Clearing a period truancy and/or detention note

· Tardy to Homeroom

A phone call (520-6830 Ext 1) and/or a note from a parent, guardian, or doctor must verify all absences.  The note must include the student’s first and last name, date(s) of absence, reason for absence and a parent/guardian signature.  It is helpful if a daytime phone number is also included.  Absence notes are considered confidential and are kept on file.

The day you return to school, take your note to the attendance office immediately upon your arrival before school. All absences must be cleared within 5 days.

If your student has missed three or less consecutive days of school please contact fellow classmates or teacher internet postings on yourhomework.com to get make-up assignments.  Parents should not request absent work from the school office unless student misses more than three days of school.

EARLY CHECK OUT PROCEDURE

When you need to leave early because of an appointment, bring a note to the attendance office (not to the teacher) first thing in the morning from your parent with your first and last name, a phone number where we can reach your parent, the time you need to leave, and the reason.  Once we verify the note, you will be issued a pass to get out of class at the appropriate time.  Remember, your parent/guardian must still come to the office to check you out.  For your convenience, parents can also call the attendance office at least one hour in advance for early student check out, and your student will be waiting when you arrive. Anyone checking out a student must be listed on the student's emergency contact list, be 18 years or older, and should bring a current I.D.

Schoolwide Tardy Policy

Students are considered to be tardy to class if they are not in their class at the time the tardy bell rings. Excessive tardies may result in detentions and possible referral to the Student Attendance Review Board (SARB). Five (5) tardies to a class during any quarter will result in a U in citizenship which will affect Renaissance and Promotion Activity requirements. Students must also follow their teacher’s individual tardy policy which can be found in the teacher’s classroom management plan. Like core classes, students are expected to be on time in homeroom every day. A 15 min. detention will be assigned that day to students who are tardy to homeroom. If students are truant to homeroom a 30 min. detention will be assigned!
